Electronic Sports World Cup 2008 scheduled for Aug. 25-27

Team San Jose [TSJ] and the San Jose Convention and Visitors Bureau, which together market to conventions and run the San Jose McEnery Convention Center and Cultural Facilities, will host the sixth edition of the Electronic Sports World Cup [ESWC], Aug. 25-28.

“This is like hosting the Olympics of video games, so we are very excited,” said Dan Fenton, Team San Jose CEO. “As the Capital of Silicon Valley, San Jose is the perfect backdrop for this global event.”

San Jose will welcome 800 video games champions from all around the world, all competing for top titles. Team San Jose will assist Games-Services, the ESWC organizing committee, with innovative set-up of its facilities to offer the best conditions of competition.  The competing champions in San Jose will have won their place by taking part in their national qualifying competitions organized in more than 50 countries.

Widely open to the public and designed for entertainment, the ESWC Grand Final will be staged in three different locations in San Jose: the Civic Auditorium, Parkside Hall and the Center for Performing Arts. Over three days, thousands of visitors will experience the thrills of video game matches played by the world’s best gamers.

As the official partner of the ESWC, Team San Jose will offer hospitality to all competitors and the ESWC organizing staff by hosting accommodations in top hotels of the city.
