Retail Roundup
Several new restaurants and shops opening in downtown Campbell
Campbell’s historic downtown is in transition. A new mixed-use development with condos over retail is almost finished and several existing buildings are undergoing interior and exterior renovations. New businesses opening downtown include:
Slice, adjacent to the Cardiff Lounge, and also owned by Sam Ramirez, opened late January with Chef Joe Cerrone serving thin crust pizza, Stromboli and salads. Slice’s contemporary façade will soon include a roll-up door to the patio creating an indoor/outdoor dining experience. Food service is from 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and until 11 p.m. Sun through Wed. (266 E. Campbell Ave.)
Quiznos, well known for serving toasted subs and fresh salads, and Aqui Cal-Mex whose popular affordable gourmet dishes are made with fresh organic ingredients, plan to open in the new downtown mixed-use development “Campbell Center” across from Sonoma Chicken Coop. The development is nearing completion with only two retail (non-food) spaces available. Both restaurants plan to open in April. (Quiznos, 193 E. Campbell Ave.; Aqui 201 E. Campbell Ave).
The Olive Bar gourmet shop will feature fresh extra virgin olive oils, flavored vinegars, assorted olives, dipping spices, sea salts and other culinary specialties. Sampling fresh extra virgin olive oil, dispensed from stainless steel containers into tiny cups for tasting is described as an educational experience. The Olive Bar will open this spring. (232 E. Campbell Ave.)
Restaurateur, Pino Spanu plans to open a European-style bakery/café this spring in downtown Campbell. Café Campbell, Spanu’s third downtown restaurant, will serve breakfast and lunch, and feature Italian gelato and freshly baked Italian pastries and desserts into the late evening. (260 E. Campbell Ave.)
Tigelleria specializes in Italian Tigelle (fresh baked flat-bread) served with assorted spreads, sliced meats, cheeses, and/or grilled vegetables served in a “Tuscan villa” atmosphere. A summer opening is anticipated. (76 E. Campbell Ave.)
Dutchess, a boutique carrying women’s fine lingerie, bathrobes, pajamas, candles, lotions and more, plans to open this summer in one of two buildings scheduled for renovation on the south side of E. Campbell Avenue. The two buildings at 346 and 350 E. Campbell Ave., adjacent to the Celtic Shoppe, will be remodeled and receive new retail facades. The 1500 square foot-plus space at 350 E. Campbell, is available for a retail tenant. (Dutchess 346 E. Campbell Ave.)
