Public Works Department working to build a better life for residents
By Jane Kennedy, Mayor
Special to the Times
The city’s Public Works Department continues to work hard to improve and maintain Campbell’s roads, streets, sidewalks, parks and other public facilities in order to enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors.
For example, we recently completed the resurfacing of Union and Curtner Avenues and, as the weather improves, we will finish the resurfacing of McGlincy Lane with rubberized asphalt.
Other construction projects scheduled for 2005 include:
- Hacienda/Winchester Perco-lation Pond improvements
- Salmar Avenue resurfacing and sidewalk project
- Downtown Campbell sidewalk project
- Campbell Avenue streetscape improvements (and potential widening of the Campbell Avenue pedestrian bridge)
- Bascom Ave. overlay at White Oaks Road (pending grant funds).
Public Works is also working on some more projects that are currently under design. These improvements include:
- Los Gatos Creek County Dog Park
- Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority Animal Shelter
- Los Gatos Creek Bike Trail improvement (includes replacement of the Camden Avenue pedestrian bridge)
- Ainsley Park enhancements
- Update of the city’s pavement maintenance program
