Campbell turns out for Kiwanis Turnaround scholarship benefit
 |
March 29th was a big night for the Kiwanis Clubs of Santa Clara County as members from 15 clubs throughout the South Bay got together to raise funds at the annual Turnaround Scholarship benefit. Master of Ceremonies John Farley, who is NBC11’s chief meteorologist, did a great job emceeing the event which featured a “turnaround” scholar who talked about how the scholarship was helping her turn her life around. Currently at San Jose City College, she plans to attend a four-year university and go to law school so that she can work in family court. While San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed was the honorary chair of the event, he was unable to return from Sacramento in time, but Campbell Mayor Dan Furtado was in attendance. In the photo, he joins Al Robbins a past president of the Campbell Club, standing right, and, from the left, Diane Houston--co-chair of the club’s turnaround scholarship and member Terry Lash along with their friends Dorie Heffner and Janice Wentz from Santa Clara. The money raised will help students from Campbell Union and Los Gatos-Saratoga High School Districts.
