Rotary Club honors Paul Harris Fellow Medals at special dinner event
The Campbell, San Jose West Rotary Club awarded three first time Paul Harris Fellow medals and four multiple medals to members and family guests at the club’s first recognition dinner for recipients. The event was held May 4 at the Sonoma Chicken Coop, downtown Campbell.
Paul Harris founded the Rotary organization in 1905 in Chicago. Today, there are almost 32,000 Rotary clubs and over 1.2 million members in 166 countries and geographical regions throughout the world. Harris Fellows are awarded to those who contribute $1,000 or more to support the many charitable programs funded by the Harris Foundation. Rotary’s efforts to eradicate Polio through its Polio Plus program is the best known activity.
Local honorees at Friday’s dinner were Mari Fujikawa, Karen Martin-Keller, Emilie Highley, Jennifer Yager, Millie Morelan, Ruth Kohan and Carl Middione. Dr. Gary Arita, club service chair, organized the event.

Two Campbell managers earn professional designation
Two community association managers from Campbell have earned the California Association of Community Managers’ “Certified Community Association Manager” (CCAM) designation. CACM grants the designation to professionals who have completed an in-depth educational curriculum program and have fulfilled a minimum requirement of work experience in the field of community association management.
Judy Robinson from Community Management Services Inc. and Isado Byrd from Massingham & Associates have both earned the CCAM designation.
According to Karen D. Conlon, statewide president of CACM, Santa Clara County is home to more than 1,800 planned communities governed by homeowners associations. Statewide, an estimated one out of every three people in California lives in a planned community.

Campbell’s American Cancer Society Relay For Life scheduled for weekend of July 14
The American Cancer Society invites everyone to participate in its Relay For Life of Campbell scheduled for July 14 – 15 from 10 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday at the Campbell Community Center, 1 W Campbell Ave. This fun-filled overnight event is designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer in our community. At the event, survivorship is celebrated and various teams raise money to help the American Cancer Society in its mission to save lives, help those who have been impacted by cancer and empower individuals to fight back.
There's still time to form a team, participate as a survivor and/or make a donation towards a luminaria in honor of someone you know who has fought cancer.
