Vasona Corridor Light Rail project grand opening postponed;
Heritage Theatre season tickets go on sale August 16

Last month, I mentioned that Valley Transportation Authori-ty’s (VTA) Light Rail service to Campbell would begin on Aug. 12 as part of the Vasona Corridor Light Rail project.

Unfortunately, VTA recently advised the city that the grand opening has to be postponed due to some previously unknown safety requirements imposed by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).

VTA is hopeful that the outstanding issues can be resolved soon and the Vasona line can be opened for service sometime in September 2005. This is still ahead of the project’s original schedule. The dedication ceremony will be announced as information be-comes available.

Meanwhile, I’m pleased to report that the Heritage Theatre will soon be kicking off its new season. Season tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, Aug. 16 and individual tickets go on sale on Thursday, Sept. 1. Here’s the 2005/2006 lineup:

- Lou Rawls: Sept. 29

- The Pendragons: Oct/ 29

- Best of Broadway: A Gershwin Celebration: Feb. 16

- Gentlemen Prefer Blonds: March 31

- The Duke Ellington Orchestra: May 5
