Sept. 4 - 25
The Bay Area Showcase Chorus will host a 4-week program for women who love to sing. Starting 9/4 and each Thursday through 9/25, guests will enjoy a fun-filled hour of vocal coaching with our director. Afterwards, participants will join the chorus for an hour of singing in our regular rehearsal. This guest program will culminate in an opportunity to perform with the chorus. Dates are Thursdays, September 4, 11, 16 (Tues.), 25 at SES Hall, 1375 Lafayette in Santa Clara from 7 – 9:30 p.m. The participation fee is $20, to offset cost of materials used. Nova Vista Symphony Orchestra announces openings/auditions: The Nova Vista Symphony, now entering its 43rd season, announces openings for the following instruments: Co-principal flute, Second oboe, and all strings. The orchestra rehearses Tuesday nights in San Jose (with occasional Wednesday string rehearsals), and typically plays four major concerts each year, plus a children’s concert and occasional other performances. “Falling into Autumn” children’s workshop: Autumn officially begins on Sept. 22 so fall into the season with us from 3:30 – 5 p.m. as we learn why leaves change colors and the reason for the seasons. Join Friends of Guadalupe River Park & Gardens and make a leafy craft to take home, while discovering the science behind the beautiful colors of fall. Location is the Visitor & Education Center, 438 Coleman Ave, San Jose. Pre-registration is required and parents need not be present during the workshop. Class is designed for kids aged 5 – 10 years. Most Holy Trinity school, together with the Most Holy Trinity parish community will be hosting a Family Fun Day at the parish and school grounds. Many activities, food, shows and a 50/50 Raffle will be held where one person will win half of all the funds raised in this event. The school and parish invite all residents of Evergreen and neighboring communities. Most Holy Trinity’s family fun day replaces the yearly parish festival which has now been moved to the Feast of the Holy Trinity in June, 2009. Location is 2040 Nassau Drive, San Jose. Saint Mary’s Catholic Church Assyrian & Mediterranean Food Festival will feature Music, Folkloric Youth Group Dancing, Children’s Games, plenty of entertainment and a variety of Assyrian Ethnic Foods including Kabobs, Shawarma, and delicious home-made pastries. The Italian American Heritage Foundation will hold its 28th annual Italian Family Festa, in downtown Willow Glen, San Jose, between Minnesota Avenue and Willow Street. The festivities will kick off on Saturday, Sept. 27 with the Founder’s Day parade on Lincoln Avenue at 11 a.m. The Italian food booths and arts and crafts vendors will open at 12 noon. Opening ceremonies of the Festa will commence at 12:30 p.m.

AAUW San Jose Hosts Fall Event – “You Make A Difference”: Members of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) San Jose Branch will showcase the organization’s mission and activities at the annual Fall Event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, corner of Leigh and Hamilton Avenues. Free and open to the public, Fall Event is the community’s best opportunity to learn about AAUW while enjoying a brunch, displays of branch projects, and a program. 40th Reunion for the Willow Glen High School Class of ‘68: The fun starts on 9/26 with a casual, no charge, no-host, evening out with old friends from the class of ‘68 at the Los Gatos Lodge, 50 Los Gatos-Saratoga Rd., Los Gatos. We will meet in the “WG Hospitality Suite” for a glass of wine or beverages at 6 p.m., followed by the mixer at 7:30.
