Del Mar High School Spirit Squad wins awards
Nineteen members of the Del Mar High School Spirit squad recently attended an intensive spirit camp at University of California, Santa Cruz.

United Spirit Association hosted the four-day camp. The squad members perfected their technique and learned stunts and routines to be performed at football and basketball games throughout the upcoming season.
The cheer squad was honored with a Superior rating for their performance. All team members received Superior awards in the cheer performance evaluation. The team mascots Kori Mierly and Alexis Harris won the Spirit Award as well as Most Improved.
Laurel Uenaka, a senior, was chosen as a camp All Star for her cheer performance. This award includes an invitation to the 2006 New Years Day parade in London. The Don’s song leaders were awarded the Declaration of Spirit for their efforts throughout the camp.
The award-winning spirit squad will be performing at all of Del Mar’s football games. Del Mar’s home opener was Sept. 9 against Lynbrook High School. |
