Docent training starts Oct. 17 for Ainsley House in Campbell

Enjoy meeting people and sharing local history? The Campbell Historical Museum and Ainsley House are recruiting volunteers who will serve as docents and provide tours to the historic Ainsley House. Docents receive educational classes and training, and must be willing to donate two, four-hour sessions per month.

Training will include the history, culture, economic and social condition of the 1920’s and 1930’s when the Ainsley family lived in the house. John Colpitts Ainsley was a pioneer in fruit canning in Santa Clara Valley and his 1925 English Tudor historic home captures the turn-of-the century period. All training will be at the museum. Volunteers are also needed to serve as greeters, garden volunteers and office aides. Call (408) 866-2757 to register for the docent training sessions. The docent training sessions will be offered Tuesday evenings from October 17 through November 7. Volunteers must attend all four sessions.

The Ainsley House is located at 300 Grant Avenue in downtown Campbell, across from the City Hall and Campbell Library. For general information about the museum, call (408) 866-2118.

Santa Clara County Managers earn professional designation

Two community association managers from Santa Clara County, including one from Campbell, have earned the California Association of Community Managers’ prestigious “Certified Community Association Manager” (CCAM) designation. CACM grants the designation to professionals who have completed an in-depth educational curriculum program and have fulfilled a minimum requirement of work experience in the field of community association management.

Sandra Long from Professional Association Services in Campbell and Michele Ganey from SummerHill Homes in Palo Alto have both earned the CCAM designation.

According to Karen D. Conlon, statewide president of CACM, Santa Clara County is home to more than 1,800 planned communities governed by homeowners associations. Statewide, an estimated one out of every three people in California lives in a planned community.

Now celebrating its 15th year, Laguna Hills, Calif.-based CACM is a statewide, not-for-profit organization serving the community association management industry. Individuals can learn more about the CCAM designation by contacting CACM directly at (949) 916-2226 from Southern California, or 800-363-9771 from Northern California.
