Linda Baker to head Southwest YMCA

Linda Baker has been named the Southwest YMCA’s new Executive Director.

The Southwest YMCA has a new executive director, Linda Baker. She started her career in the YMCA as a Saturday evening lifeguard in 1978 when her two children were swimming there.

“My success as a nonprofit executive is due to the great training I received at the YMCA,” Baker says. 

Baker eventually became the YMCA Health and Fitness Education director, training, managing and supervising 24 staff members. She raised up to $100,000 through the YMCA’s Support Cam-paign before leaving for an extended period working with various nonprofit groups in Southern California.

Libby Kava, the South-west YMCA’s membership director, says, “Linda has a strong record of success in fund development and general management, most recently as the executive vice-president of the Northern California Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.”

A Southwest YMCA member, Linda enjoys swimming and the cardio center.
