Campbell Community Toy Program
The annual Campbell Community Toy Program will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1 from 6- to 9 p.m. at the Campbell Community Center. Donations are very important to make this event a success.
Tickets, available in the Chamber of Commerce office, are $15 for adults; children under 12 are free. Bring unwrapped toys or raffle prizes to the Chamber office (at Kirkwood Plaza on West Campbell Avenue at San Tomas Aquino Road). Many underprivileged children, and all those who reside at Eastfield Ming Quong, will receive enough gifts to make their Christmas a joyful event.
Simply donate a new, unwrapped toy to the program, by bringing it to the Chamber or call (408) 378-6252 for someone to pick them up. The Toy Program Benefit is sponsored by the Campbell Chamber of Commerce, The City of Campbell, The Santa Clara County Central Fire Department and the Los Gatos Elks Lodge.
Campbell’s 2005 Carol of Lights to be held Dec. 4
The annual “Carol of Lights” ceremony will be held on Dec. 4 in downtown Campbell from 5- to 9 p.m. Members of the Carol of Lights committee and volunteers have come together to raise funds to help continue the community event. Due to the rising costs, there will be some changes this year.
If you would like to help make this event possible you can make checks payable to the Alan and Bonnie Aerts Foundation and send them to The Campbell Express, 334 E. Campbell Ave. Campbell, CA 95008 to help guarantee the event will be staged as planned. All help is accepted!
Girl Scouts host Second annual One Warm Coat Drive
The Girl Scouts of Santa Clara County’s Service Unit 38 are in the process of holding their Second annual One Warm Coat Drive. The drive runs from Oct 31 through Nov. 30 at various locations throughout the Cambrian, Campbell and Willow Glen areas.
Last year the service unit collected more than 2,500 gently used coats, jackets and sweaters for Sacred Heart Community Service, and the Girl Scouts hope to exceed that amount this year. The service unit was also recognized in February by the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors for last fall’s collection efforts.
All coats of all sizes in good condition are needed! Your donation will benefit City Team Ministries. If you don’t know any Girl Scouts but would like to participate in the Drive come to Valley Fair on Friday, Nov. 25 between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and drop off your donation.
Ballet San Jose receives $2,000 grant from
Target
for
education and outreach
Ballet San Jose Silicon Valley announced a partnership with Target in recognition of its Education and Outreach efforts in bringing ballet and dance training to young people in the community. The $2,000 grant is the first grant Target has made to the organization in five years.
“These monies will provide an opportunity for young people in our local neighborhoods to attend professional ballet productions and to take introductory dance classes in our studios,” said Ballet San Jose School director Lise la Cour. “We are only able to provide these important programs because of the support of quality companies like Target.”
This grant is part of the ongoing support Target provides to local communities throughout the country. Every week Target gives more than $2 million to strengthen families and communities across the nation, with a focus on education, the arts, social services and other vital community partnerships.
This year Ballet San Jose Silicon Valley will give free performances of “The Nutcracker” and “The Little Mermaid” to over 4,000 elementary and middle school students and provide free introductory dance lessons to dozens of elementary school students throughout Santa Clara county.
