Scenes from Oktoberfest October 15 – 16, 2005 Downtown Campbell

Salud! Denise Galbraith, Asa Hoyt (center) and J.R. Galbraith sample this year’s fare at the 2005 Oktoberfest in downtown Campbell. The hands-down favorite was the Oktoberfest Spaten beer. J.R.’s “Now that’s beer” rating summed it rather nicely. Veterans of both the Danville and Campbell Oktoberfests, The Galbraiths gave Campbell’s annual event top honors.

If you brew it, they will come Cindy Kunesh (right) and Mary McBain have been coming to Oktoberfest for the past six year – which may not seem like much, until you realize that MaBain makes the trek all the way from Auburn. Asked why she makes the trip every year, McBain explains “The beer and the food, and I love to look at the people – they seem so happy – it’s just wonderful.” Kunesh added “Beer is our drink of choice!”

Cousins Amalia Raptis, Maria Raptis (back row) Anna-Maria Raptis-Zarou (center) and Sofia Raptis are first-time vistors to Campbell’s Oktoberfest, but gave the kiddie section high marks. “This kiddie area is much bigger than the kid’s area at the Half Moon Bay Festival – it’s much better for families.” said parent Evangelia Raptis-Zarou.
California Percussions combined rollicking good time music, zany garb and spirited upbeat tunes for a real crowd pleasing show at the 2005 Oktoberfest in Downtown Campbell October 15 – 16.

Debbie Maine and Darlene Shamp work their “magic” on Tannin’s Wine Bar owner, Rich Diaz. “Events like Oktoberfest are great,” said Diaz. “They bring a lot of people to see what’s down here.”
