City Council works to ban Segways on Campbell section of Los Gatos Creek Trail
The Campbell City Council is working to ban Segway tours along the Los Gatos Creek Trail in Campbell due to safety concerns regarding the fast-moving but silent people movers.
In October, the Campbell City Council unanimously denied a nine-month trial period for the group Segway tours along the trail and voted to create an ordinance banning the use of electric personal mobility devices from the city's parks. A first reading of the new ordinance completely banning Segways was passed recently. South Bay Segway is headquartered in Campbell, but the owner, Kent Pelz says he plans to relocate to a city that is more open to his business.
