Boy Scouts Campbell Troop 339 has an Eagle Scout, Tyler Perry. For his project, Perry built a storage cart for the Leigh High School Marching Band that he has been a member of for four years. The cart will be used to store boxes, water containers and tables for food, water and first aid supplies used during the 25 hours of weekly band rehearsals.
Tyler will be recognized as an Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor held on December 16 at First United Methodist Church in Campbell.
New name, coach for Campbell Wave U.S.A. Swim Team
For over 10 years, the Campbell Wave U.S.A. Swimming team located at the Community Center has turned normal swimmers into athletes. The team started with 30 swimmers but has recently grown to almost 180 with many competing. Kudos to Tyson Ormonde who joined as head coach this past October changing the name to the New Campbell Wave U.S.A. Swim Team. They now offer all levels of swimming from non-competitive to beginners.
Coach Ormonde is proud to announce that 60-90 swimmers go on to competition like Helena Gali and Vladimir Khrolov who made national times, a first in the history of the Campbell Team.
“There’s much more to come out of Campbell,” said Coach Ormonde. “We are taking normal swimmers and making athletes.”

On Nov. 20, the City Council unanimously approved the Civic Center East Master Plan to coordinate needs of increased library space, a Heritage Orchard, Museum/Ainsley House upgrades and parking as well as develop options for how the improvements might be constructed.
Under the plan, the library building would be increased 3,000 square feet [from 42,000 to 45,000 square feet].
The Civic Center East Complex proposal would allow 1,500 square foot library display space for large artifacts for the Campbell Museum, new bathrooms and catering kitchen to support functions at the Ainsley House among other improvements. A multi-level parking structure would support the civic center as well as downtown Campbell.
The preliminary cost of the total project is $53.3 to $66 million with a breakdown of $34 million to $36 million for the library and the parking structure cost range from $12.5 million to $19.5 million. The plan will be carried out in different phases as funding is available.
