Campbell’s Danielle Gong qualifies for Olympic trials
Presentation High School senior Danielle Gong (pictured above) qualified for the Olympic trials in the 200 individual medley recently in southern California. The 17-year-old Campbell native qualified at the Speedo Grand Challenge. The Olympic trials will take place next July in Omaha, Neb where only the top two swimmers head off to the Olympics in Beijing. She has been training year-round on the national team with De Anza Cupertino
Aquatics. Danielle says she's keeping her goals and expectations realistic. Danielle currently holds six out of the eight school swimming records at Presentation. Read more...

The Environment: Recycling, Global Warming, Litter Reduction

Recently, I had the opportunity to participate in an exchange between the US Conference of Mayors and the Japan Association of city Mayors on the subject of recycling, reuse, and decreased waste to our landfills. We also explored aspects of global warming. Specifically, I was asked to speak on our public education campaign for recycling. I decided to focus on the State of California as a whole.
